The Iconic & Timeless Bags of Lady Diana

Do we need to introduce her? The Princess of Wales, the queen of bold choices. Diana was known for not always following royal protocol. Her bold character is expressed in her way of dressing. It’s also no secret that the Princess of Wales had a variety of designer bags, which we all seem to love. Some of these bags are even named after her. And they carry her name with pride.

Bold and Chic

She wore all the 'It bags' before we did. Probably because the way she wore them, inspired us to be as bold and chic as her. Her taste in bags is very elegant, playful and sophisticated. The bags she used to wear, keep coming back every once in a while. Twenty years after her tragic passing, the Gucci Bamboo Bags are making a comeback. It’s the perfect bag for creating an earthy and summery atmosphere, yet it’s very playful and elegant.

From ChouChou to Lady Dior

After receiving a Dior ChouChou bag from France's first lady, Bernadette Chirac, Diana fell in love with it. She immediately asked the designer if she could get the bag in a variety of colors. She loved the elegance of the bag. The bag was worn to many occasions, including The Met Gala, one of the largest events where the bag was worn. As a result, the bag was named after her. The Lady Dior bag. Many people around the world were unable to obtain the new and exclusive bag.

There are only a few women in the world, who were able to connect their name to a designer brand. The Lady Dior, formerly known as the ‘ChouChou Bag’ was designed by Gianfranco Ferre in 1947. The ChouChou bag was gifted to Lady Diana by the first lady of France, Bernadette Chirac. When gifted to Diana, the ChouChou bag wasn’t for sale yet, and only owned by the world's top 1%. It was impossible for Diana to not fall in love with the bag, and she requested the bag in a variety of colors. The appearance of the bag was inspired by the chairs Napoleon III used during Dior’s first fashion show in 1947.
