Gucci gives a modern look to the classic bamboo bag

Gucci has given a brand new look to one of its signature items, the Gucci Bamboo handbag. With a delicate silhouette, an elegant handle, and in the most vibrant shades, this bag has been on everyone's radar, especially after being seen on one of the most relevant celebrity at the moment.

History of the bag

The bag was first designed back in 1947, by Guccio Gucci and Florentine artisans. During the post war era, it was hard to come by traditional materials, leaving them with no other choice than to find an alternative. They decided to use bamboo, a light material that makes the bag look exotic.

This iconic handle has turned into a house staple, very dear to their fans due to its elegance and history. 

The bag now

Alessandro Michele, Creative director of the luxury house, decided to take inspiration on Gucci's signature style and create a bag that's both contemporary and classic: The Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag.

The bag is available in three sizes: mini, small and medium, and they all have a detachable shoulder strap to provide a more comfortable alternative to the classic handbag.

With this collection, Michele decided to balance the classic look with bright and bold colors, and in case you want to go a step further, it's also available with colorful patterned leather and canvas with the timeless GG monogram.

Why is it so popular?

While Bamboo bags have always been popular, it wasn't until recently that they officially stole the spotlight from other bags. The reason is simple, it has been seen on a celebrity. 

Harry Styles, singer-songwriter and actor, whose fame only keeps rising is a huge fan of Gucci. Often associated with the brand, Styles has worn their designs multiple times, participated in their campaigns and even created a collection with Alessandro Michele, which will be available soon.
