Chanel returned to the Grand Palais on Monday, unveiling its Spring/Summer 2025 collection after the venue's extensive renovations. The showcase was a celebration of Gabrielle Chanel’s legacy, while also offering a heartfelt tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld, whose passion for turning runway shows into art was evident in every detail of the event.
Runway Decor
The runway itself was transformed in true Lagerfeld style. The models walked through a massive birdcage, inspired by a decor piece from Gabrielle Chanel’s famous apartment at 31 rue Cambon. The birdcage not only mirrored the grandeur of the Grand Palais but also symbolized freedom and the idea of spreading one's wings, reflecting the essence of the collection.

Style
As for the fashion, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection brought together dreamy, flowing fabrics and modern takes on Chanel’s iconic tweed. Skirts with slits were paired with matching vests, while colorful separates were layered over crisp button-down shirts. The collection also looked to the brand’s rich archives, incorporating cape-like garments, including tweed jackets and airy chiffon dusters.

Details
Feminine details were prominent throughout, from decorative buttons and delicate feathers to ruffles and pussy bows. The signature Chanel color palette made its mark, blending neutral tones with soft pastels like blue, pink, and yellow..
In keeping with the playful spirit of the collection, colorful tweeds and feathery accents were seen across both the ready-to-wear and accessory lines. Particularly eye-catching for me was the birdcage bag, a whimsical piece crafted from a mix of metals that echoed the show’s central motif.
